Reception theory : blog task

1) What is the preferred reading of a media text?
how the director wants us to view the text

2) What is the oppositional reading of a media text?

How the director doesnt want to view your work

Re-watch the trailer for the film Harry Brown:

3) How does the Harry Brown trailer position the audience to respond to the teenage characters in the film?

He uses violence drugs and money to respond to teenagers

4) Why might young people reject this reading and construct an oppositional reading of the trailer?

By viewing where the life leads you to so to do your own think and not end up like them

Look at this McDonald's advert:

5) Write a 150+ word analysis of the McDonald's advert using preferred, negotiated and oppositional readings.

The mc donald advert director wants us to  be hungry when we view this succulent big mac and they also want us to view the delicacy of mc donalds is. For how cheap it is the burger looks deluxe and filling.  Some people Might think even though this burger looks scrumptious and delicate they might also realise the burger doesnt look like this especially for the cheap price its being sold for. Finally the oppositional reading of it is that it is unhealthy, they arent vegan friendly and isnt like that in real life. That would mean they would reject it as it wouldnt look like that as it looks too good to be true. This would mean in general there are more reasons to buy the burger then deny it and considering it is mainly focused on the struggler side which means its insanely cheap there clearly isnt a lot to lose.
